We Put Safety First

Lucky's Scrap Metals Safety Policies

At Lucky Scrap Metals, safety is our number one priority. To ensure the safety of both our customers and staff, we have implemented a set of strict guidelines. Please take a moment to review our safety policies below before entering our yard. Your cooperation helps us maintain a safe, efficient environment for all.

1. Proper Footwear Required

All customers must wear enclosed shoes while on the premises. Open-toed shoes, sandals, flip-flops, or high heels are strictly prohibited. This policy is in place to protect you from potential hazards, such as sharp objects and heavy machinery.

2. Office Check-In

Before entering the yard, all customers must report to the office for check-in. Our staff will ensure that you understand the safety procedures and direct you to the appropriate areas for your visit.

3. Supervision in the Yard

For your safety, customers are not allowed to walk through the yard unsupervised. You must be accompanied by a staff member at all times while in the yard. Our team is trained to navigate the potential hazards of the yard, ensuring your safety around heavy equipment and scrap materials.

4. Handling Materials and Equipment

Do not attempt to handle any scrap metal, machinery, or equipment without instruction from a staff member. The yard is filled with heavy, sharp, and potentially dangerous materials that require proper handling techniques. Our staff will guide you on the safe handling of scrap.

5. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

While PPE is not mandatory in all areas, we strongly encourage all visitors to wear gloves, safety glasses, and high-visibility vests when entering the yard. PPE may be required in certain areas, particularly if you are working with machinery or handling materials.

6. No Unauthorised Access to Machinery or Restricted Areas

Customers are not permitted to operate or climb on any machinery or vehicles in the yard. Only trained and authorized personnel are allowed to handle equipment and vehicles. Remain in permitable areas at all times. Do not enter into any unauthorised areas for your own safety and the safety of others.

7. Safe Distance from Equipment

Always maintain a safe distance from operating machinery. Stay clear of forklifts, cranes, and other heavy equipment, and be aware of your surroundings at all times. Equipment operators may not see you, so always be alert when near machinery.

8. No Smoking or Open Flames

For the safety of everyone on-site, smoking or the use of open flames (including lighters) is strictly prohibited in the yard. Flammable materials are present, and the risk of fire must be avoided at all costs.

9. Hazardous Materials Handling

Refer to our Non-Acceptable Items list before coming on site. If in doubt, speak with an assistant before unloading any hazmat items.

10. Traffic Safety

Please be mindful of the traffic flow in the yard. Vehicles, forklifts, and trucks are constantly moving, and pedestrians should stay in designated walkways or areas. Always look both ways before crossing paths with vehicles and never walk behind moving vehicles.

11. Emergency Procedures

In case of an emergency, please alert a staff member immediately. We have designated assembly points and safety procedures in place to deal with accidents or hazardous situations. Ensure that you are familiar with emergency exits and first aid stations upon arrival. Our main entry gate has a Muster Point Meeting place for all evacuations.

12. Compliance with Staff Instructions

Please follow all instructions given by Lucky Scrap Metals staff members. Our experienced team are trained to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone on-site. If at any time you have questions or concerns about safety, don’t hesitate to ask a staff member.

By following these safety policies, you help us create a secure and well-organised environment for everyone. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in keeping our scrap yard a safe place to work and visit.
